Pat Spalding, NHSA, storytellerPat Spalding writes and tells stories for grown-ups - first-person experience tales that range from heartrending to hilarious.

Storytelling has always been the focus of Pat’s career. For 30 years she brought stories to life through puppetry, entertaining family audiences across the country with her touring company Ha’penny Theatre.

Now Pat’s interest has turned to stand-up storytelling for adults. She has produced three one-woman shows: “We Stayed Together For the Puppets,” “A Bomb In the Closet,” and “Dancing With Dad.”

Pat has told on the stage of the National Storytelling Festival in Jonesboro, TN. She is emcee of True Tales Radio and co-host of TT Workshops on WSCA Portsmouth Community Radio. Both programs, fashioned after NPR’s Moth Radio Hour, give people the opportunity to tell their own true stories live on the air.

Programs offered: formal performances, informal storytelling programs, lecture-demos, workshops, and coaching sessions

Populations served: adult audiences, creative aging programs

Availability: all areas, year round

Fees: Full shows - $750; Informal storytelling programs, Lecture-demos, and Workshops - $250-500; Individual coaching – negotiable
